Nimbuzz v Fring Dogfight
As some may have know, Nimbuzz launched its HD Voice Calls like a week ago.
Nimbuzz uses new p2p technology instead of conventional way.
So users were connected directly without going thru a server, boasting a crystal clear voice call quality with less call drops.

Introduction:
With smartphones all around these days, and more and more unlimited data plan packages offered by telco.
One can opt switching to a multi chat client platform and thus, saving hundreds on your telco bills. And what’s better?
You get connected on all your social networks, all in one place. And you’re always on the go.
Currently Nimbuzz has a larger community with cross-platforms ranging from iUsers, Android and Symbian.
While Fring only supports Android and Symbian, iUsers were expected to have an app in the near future.
p/s: Both Nimbuzz and Fring has an excellent built-in SIP client,
and both Nimbuzz out and Fringout were fairly good enough to replace conventional CDMA/GSM.
(Provided if you’re living in a country where 3g is well covered and you can get cheap unlimited data plan easily)

First impression:
The orange nimbuzz feels more snappy and the user experience is more towards a native built-in client.
The green monster on the other hand, somehow fails on me. I could not connect facebook chat on it.
I remember having facebook chat on previous Fring version. More updates to come on this issue.

SIP/VoIP impression:
Both clients were great. So great, I thought i was making calls thru gsm cellular.
While the call quality is highly dependant on the SIP provider, the current SIP i’m subscribed to, Nymgo has a noticeable connectivity issue with Nimbuzz
Connection errors is somehow more frequent on the Nimbuzz, but once connected, calls quality feels better on the Nimbuzz.
That being said. if you’re picky enough. You will notice some hissing on the Fring platform.
Update: I’m still in the midst looking for a reliable, cheap PAYG(pay as you go), BYOD(bring your own device) SIP provider.
While Nymgo offers cheap rate. I happened to notice some serious voice traffic conjestion during certain time of hours. The latency was as if i’m making calls to overseas.
Not that good imho.

Fringout vs Nimbuzz out:
Thanks to Sykpe. Fring was threatened that a lawsuit will be filed against them.
And starting from October 31st 2010. Skype is no longer supported on Nimbuzz and Fring platform. A rather sad news. (but that’s okay!! =D fuck you skype)
One will ask. Why the obnoxity in a sudden. Rates. Voip call rates.
Hands down to Fringout. The call rates on Fring is cheap. Dirt cheap as one may say.
That’s a no-brainer question when it comes to Fringout vs Nimbuzzout vs Skypeout.
eg. On fringout calls were only 2.6cents USD to Malaysia mobile, 0.8cents USD to Malaysia landline.
In other words, its less than 9cents MYR a minute to a Malaysia landline
Last i checked, the lowest rate being offered by Malaysia telco YES is 9cents.
So there you go. Dirt cheap. Calls rate to the states is only .7cents USD. Holycrap?
To give you a better example. Skype offers 2.3cents USD to the states, and 6.1cents USD to Malaysia mobile.
2.3cents vs .7cents. 2.6cents vs 6.1cents. You do the math.

Platform stability vs resources:
When it comes to battery power draining. That’s the most important factor. You want to idle as much as you can. Draining every juice out of your battery pack.
On my personal using experience, I hooked up Twitter, MSN, Facebook on my Nimbuzz and and compared it to a clean Fring without any addon service.
Suprisingly Nimbuzz uses less resources. However this is to say Nimbuzz had just only upgraded their version to 3.0 Fring should roll out new version soon.
So, there’s nothing much to compare. Both platform idles in the background and could last at least half day on my Symbian S50v5.
UI (user-interface) wise, I prefer the Nimbuzz over Fring.
The major downside on the Nimbuzz 3.0 is that kinetic scrolling was not found in the phone book directory.
On the other side of the note. Fring has in-ads built in.
So yeah, you want dirt cheap calls. You get advertisement as a full package ;p (which i put my blame on for draining more battery power)

Yes. There’s this little thing I would love to share. Something about facebook
As many would’ve know. I creep, I stalk. I can be real shady (but i quit long time ago. nigger’s too old fer that shyt)

Its all about Yin and Yang. There’s attention seeker, and……. ( well, you get the idea ;p)
First off, let’s take a simple review.
Try looking up details and infos about yourself and see how much you can actually get.
try every single way. cross reference lookup… friend of a friend….blogs.. chain emails namelists… social platforms… etc..etc
see how much information you can get just by googling my nick?
once something is up on the world wide web.. its there…
you can either choose to ignore it… or learn how to conceal yourself from being over exposed.

So, the strory started last monday. I was driving to KPMG tower and and i got this shocking news about facebook new profile changes
I mean, how are the odds.. being me not knowing there’s huge change… and, from a chinese radio station.
So Monday was the day i saw loads of whine babies complaining bout the new change
I’ve always believed in one thing.
There’s no way to please people. One way or another.
I do understand the annoyance…. i do understand why you resist changes.
But, something far more terrible happened on Monday.
That last for a good 5-6 hours. The dev teams decided to change the way of our recent activity
Yes, it is a minor tweak.
Yet, a deathly blow
In terms of a point-of-view from someone well experienced in what i love to call “people research” or “activity monitoring”
This is like the second greatest tweak from the dev team right after the new ” friendship-relationship page thingy”
Your comments on others statuses shows up on your wall (neatly, how sweet of the devs) instead of the conventional “A commented on B’s status”
Yet, alot people did not know that, this happened on Monday (6/12/2010) and lasted for a mere 5+ hours, and they decided to revoke the changes
Good riddance!
They brought it back.
This time, a minor tweak was done. Privacy was taken into account.
It was not your privacy the devs were concerned about.
The whole point of spending hours on a social platform is to mingle around isnt it? The heck you need an fb account if you hide everything?
Privacy was taken into account in a sense that only if the third party privacy settings were right in order, he/she will be protected.
As for you?
No, there’s nothing could be done on your part.

Its been some time since i blogged. And not many of them very informational.
At the very first, I thought of having seperates blogs. One for tech news, reviews and stuffs. And one for me myself to rant
Why create the diversion for traffic. Hmmm.
So yeah. Imma try to blog more about tech news in an unbiased way (who’s not biased anyways)
